Reimbursement
In most situations the breath test kits will be shipped to your practice at no cost. Our reimbursement comes from either billing the patient's health insurance, direct payment from patients with the breath samples being returned to our lab for analysis, or we can invoice your practice monthly for each kit used during that period. The choice is yours. If you choose the first two options you will never see an invoice from us.
Metabolic Solutions is reimbursed for the Urea Breath Test Kit and laboratory service by billing the patient's health Insurance against CPT Code 83013. For the Small intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Lactose Intolerance and Fructose Malabsorption tests we use the Hydrogen Breath Test CPT Code 91065. Metabolic Solutions always accepts the allowed charges and only bills patients when the insurance company instructs us to collect deductibles or co-insurance payments.
Medical professionals can be reimbursed for administering the Urea Breath Test by billing against CPT Code 83014. Medical professional reimbursement for the Hydrogen Test is only through charges for an office visit to review the results and recommend course of action.
